Musica Boscareccia
Musica Boscareccia
ensamble

The Musica Boscareccia ensemble, created by soprano Alicia Amo and violinist Andoni Mercero, borrows its name from the collection of songs published by Johann Hermann Schein in Leipzig in 1621 ("Musica Boscareccia" - music of the forest - or "Wald Liederlein" - forest songs -, as stated on the first page of this edition). It is a group with variable instrumentation that is mainly dedicated to chamber vocal performance of the 17th and 18th centuries, from single-voice songs with basso continuo to cantatas with instrumental accompaniment. It is therefore a very broad and extraordinarily varied repertoire that still contains many compositions little known to the general public, unpublished works and pieces that are still waiting to be discovered.

Its first CD, Dulce azento, develops an important project to recover musical heritage by rescuing from the Archive of the Royal Chapel of Madrid four unpublished chamber songs composed by Francesco Corselli. It also includes the first recording of three sonatas for bass violin by the same author. This CD has received several distinctions, including the nomination for the prestigious international ICMA award. Recently, Musica Boscareccia has carried out the recording of its 2nd CD, Sognando son felice, dedicated entirely to Domenico Scarlatti.

The members who make up Musica Boscareccia regularly collaborate with some of the main baroque groups on the Spanish and international musical scene and their concert activity leads them to regularly participate in the most important music festivals and concert halls.

Musica Boscareccia has offered concerts at the Santander International Festival, the Casalarreina Early Music Festival, the Álava Early Music Week, the León Organ Festival, the Seville Baroque Orchestra season, the Spanish Music Festival of Cádiz, the Salamanca Barroca cycle, the Cordón de Burgos Cultural cycle, the Madrid Sacred Art Festival, the Príncipe Felipe Auditorium in Oviedo, the Aranjuez Early Music Festival, San Lorenzo de El Escorial, the Baroque Universe cycle of the National Auditorium of Music, the Seville Early Music Festival and will be a resident group, collaborating in the pedagogical project of the Estella Early Music Festival.
